Here at The American Scene we have mixed feelings about the Scandinavian economic model. But I for one have unambiguously positive feelings about this incredibly beautiful gas station, which I consider a superior model for gas stations in all urban areas. I found it via Tropolism, an excellent and very well-designed blog on urban design. Turns out blogger Chad Smith is also a great admirer of Jean Nouvel, which means I’ll be reading him regularly.
Speaking of mixed feelings, I think it’s clear that the proliferation of beautiful buildings in our cities has been one of the happy by-products of the new inequality.
