Go Speed Racer
I was going to post something about the Speed Racer trailer, and how perfectly it fits in with and builds on the Wachowskis’ aesthetic, what with the brain-melting visual effects, the throbbing techno soundtrack, the comic-book eroticism, the blending of fetish-fashion and high-style designer Eurotrashiness, the stoic, super-powered hero intoning Zen bromides, the bad comic antics… but then I figured, well, I might as well just post the trailer here and let you see for yourself.

Came your way courtesy of Andrew Sullivan, who I admire greatly, but I have to say… the Speed Racer trailer more than “perfectly fits” the W bros. aesthetic… I wish they’d have done more with the music than rip The Matrix soundtrack. Ugh. We added our $0.02 to the topic at our music licensing blog.
Still can’t wait for the movie, though. :)

talk about consolidation—its wes anderson meets coen brothers meets whoever did the art direction for kill bill all in onee. looks like the w’s have moved us all into new territory once again. (i am guessing that it is more subversive than the trailer suggests).
