It's Hard Out There for a Clinton
‘As a parent’ — in the parlance of our times — I’d be seeing Hillary’s progenitorial rage and raising it a few capfuls of testosterone. But there’s little or no escape from the problem that today’s parlance defaults to the mildly, ironically offensive, and that judging by the standards of our times Shuster’s ‘Pimped Out’ Comment is not ‘incredibly’ offensive but simply mildly and ironically offensive. The appropriation of Ghetto Talk by the whitebread infotainment industry mirrors a broader ease, especially among those under 45, with casually framing the events of everyday social life in bitch-pimp terms. In a world where pimping out your ride is a great honor, ‘sort of’ pimping out your daughter would appear to be less of an honor primarily on account of the ‘sort of’ qualifier. Of course, Shuster was trying to be less-than-honorable, obeying another cardinal rule of MSM Edginess: degrade obliquely. But he was under marching orders — probably not written in neat hand by an MSNBC intern, but certainly uploaded into his hard drive over many years spent in moving through a high-budget industry devoted largely to making itself comfortable with the great American lowbrow.
Then come up with a similar situation where MSM
used “pimp” or similarly edgy terms to describe
Bush or McCain families (“Today Barbara Bush is pimping
for son George’s campaign today in New Hampshire”
— somehow I missed that headline). Some of us are edgy
enough to know that pimping a ride is subtly different
than pimping a person. And perhaps to make the
punishment fit the crime, we should force Shuster
to listen to Bill Clinton’s slam of Sister Souljah
about 1000 times, so our “whitebread infotainment industry”
might get the clue that street talk can’t be adopted in the
boardroom without modification, i.e. distilling out
the racism and sexism and other crudenesses inherent.
(Funny, there hasn’t been a memorable wardrobe malfunction
since Janet Jackson’s – why is that?)
But go ahead, pimp for Shuster if you must. It’s
just a shame that mediawhoresonline.com has gone
inactive. But I guess the concept just got sublimated.

I saw the clip and I beg to disagree. He was going for really insulting at the time and he was, forgetting that there is almost nobody in America that dislikes Chelsea Clinton.
Whether or not she was Hillary’s daughter had nothing to do with it. He sneered using sexually offensive terms towards a woman that virtually everyone likes in 2008.
You might not think much of the term pimps out but there is no escaping the fact that by using that term he is calling Hillary and Bill sexual panderers and Chelsea a whore. Plain and simple. That’s what “Pimps out” means. We have no other common non-vulgar meaning for it.
Frankly, once the election is over, she would have every right to hit him with a slandar and defamation of character lawsuit and frankly she ought to.
There was nothing funny, ironic, or enlightening about what he said.
For a paid journalist he was really lucky that he wasn’t fired on the spot.
He may still be sued.
I can just see the jury trial now.
Chelsea sitting there looking all of 17, still, while the jury hears the tape I heard.
In the right state, with enough parents on the jury, she could collect from Shuster and his network, maybe half a billion dollars and shut the whole darn network down.
OF course, I’m not a lawyer, so maybe not.
But there’s plenty of political precedent for presidential fury over attacking kids of the pres. And when the kids are about as hostile and mean as a fluffy bunny, well, he shoulda known better.
Chelsea may have teeth, but all she is showing is sweetness and light.
