A conservative, a liberal and a scientist walk into a bar

I did a post when I was guest-blogging for Andrew Sullivan a few months ago that touched on some issues that I have now extended into a two-part series at National Review Online. I won’t try to recapitulate the whole thing here, but in a nutshell, Part 1 takes conservatives to task for developing the bad habit of dumping on science when they don’t like what they believe are its political or ethical implications (e.g., global warming), and Part 2 takes liberals to task for trying to extend the prestige of lab-bench scientific certainty to topics that, while legitimately scientific, are inherently less certain (e.g., global warming). You can guess who likes which article.
