Fuel Cell Batteries for the iPhone
Here’s an idea — Battery life on the iPhone 3G is pretty grim, as I note here. So why not use fuel cell batteries powered by methane gel? The gel containers could become colorful accessories!

Someday soon it’ll come true, one hopes. But fuel cell catalysts remain pretty expensive and short-lived. Also, they run hot. That’s not much of a problem in a car or a laptop — anything with a built-in cooling system can handle it. But in a phone? If you kept the thing in your pocket while it engaged in some battery-sucking operation the heat could become a problem.
