Sir Nigel Sheinwald’s private briefing for Gordon Brown about Barack Obama — written some months ago and recently leaked: you can get it here — is actually pretty boring and without any particular insight. Brown would have done just as well to read any major American newspaper or news magazine. But I do like this passage: “Friends like Tom Daschle told me that he demands calm and ‘no dramas’ from those around him. That will, I think, be an important criterion for his choice of running mate.”
