I would guess not much! Especially since it appears that Mr. Weiner is writing under the assumption that “conservatism” basically means “cynicism”, which is just stupid. What’s weirdest about that piece (come on, back me up Freddie!) is that the overall tone of 30 Rock as described is actually…rather like the self-consciously “contrarian” (and often cynically anti-liberal) tone of Slate itself.
Yeah, Jack Donaghy isn’t a character a conservative would love— he’s a hilarious but crude stereotype of what a conservative is. He’s what a liberal who isn’t too thoughtful imagines conservatives to be. Personally, I think 30 Rock is more mocking people’s political delusions more than anything else, the way smart, politically minded people become overly interested in how their self-representation looks ideologically.
