The Best Job in Journalism, Revealed
How do you get hired at The New Yorker? And how do you get fired? Dan Baum, who managed both over the course of just a few years, is telling his story 140 characters at a time on Twitter — and it’s fascinating. Leave it to a (former) New Yorker writer to figure out how to do long(er) form storytelling on Twitter. (Via Bloggasm and Mike Riggs)
Reverse chronological order is not helping in this case.

Don’t read from the top. Scroll down and read up.

The twitter website, as it often is, was being huffy earlier, and refused to load more than one screen’s worth of his tweets.
Having now read the stream, it was really good. And to my surprise, parceling it up into tweets worked nicely. The rhythm felt different, even though half the tweets spilled over into the next.

I’m interested in reading his story, but “scroll down and read up” doesn’t cut it for me. I’m not a fan of twitter, but I do recognize that that the format has its merits. The author disrespects the format by effectively cutting up a a piece that should be a blog post into 140 character snippets, resulting in a “if all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail” piece of disjointed writing.
Anyhoo, following the “disjointed” theme, I’m curious about Mr. Suderman’s take on the new Horrors album Primary Colours. I have to say that I’m pleasantly surprised in a big way. Here are some video links for their first singles:
