Conor, I’m glad you keep these lists and I hope you do another one next year. I ignore so many of the links that people throw around on the internet, but when you’ve picked out your favorite stories from an entire year, I’m willing to take a chance, even on subjects I’m not usually interested in. Though I probably won’t read all the stories, the ones I’ve read so far have been very good. So, thanks, and I hope you find some more good stories for 2010.
Conor, are you ever going to comment on the Scott Horton triple suicide story again? You said you were going to review some of the primary documents. Considering the comments you made (and the comments by Joe Carter), it seems you ought to at least give some type of conclusion: either standing by your comments or retracting some of your comments.
Yes, I intend to revisit it, but I’m on a cross-country road trip and scrambling to finish a half-dozen other things, so it’s going to be awhile, because I’ve said all I can without doing some additional research and reporting.
Fair enought, but you don’t seem to be holding yourself to the same journalistic standards you hold others. Isn’t this something you should have looked into before posting on the facts of the case? And if a correction is warranted, don’t you have an obligation to do it timely?
I don’t mean to be hard on you, but you do seem to take these things seriously, and although I often disagree with you, I’d like to think I can rely on your journalistic integrity. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I imagine you’d rather move past this whole kerfluffle. That would be wrong – you should own up to it and make it right. Everyone makes mistakes.
More sports journalism! A nomination:

Best journalism? I didn’t know you could use both those words in the same sentence.
