Cities
On Tuesday I began a month long project at The Atlantic on the subject of cities — introductory post here. In my most recent post, I argue that New York is America’s best city by a wide margin, and that it is far too influential.
I’ll also be offering daily links to great longer pieces on cities, facts and figures in a fun format, and plenty of stuff besides, surrounded by the best archival pieces from The Atlantic archives if you’re browsing around the main page.
I hope you’ll check it out, and check back often.
I’m assuming we’re including a bunch of stuff by Richard Florida in this? Dude’s a maven on this subject.

Do you really need a whole month to cover the topic of cities? It sounds like you’re starting your summer slack-off a bit early.

Well, if you’re going to live in a City, then you really need a badass robot to park your car.

New York is too central to the nation’s cultural, financial and corporate life, say Denverites, Atlantans and the rest.
It’s a complaint echoed by residents of Manchester, Lyon, Osaka, Smolensk and many other cities around the world.
Is there a counterexample of a country that has its cultural and economic power evenly distributed across regions and cities?
