Reihan Swedes Classic Cinema
The following videos represent my humble attempt to engage in some very low-budget “Sweding” of my own. The first begins as a kind of absurdist romp, but ends as a tragic reflection on a crumbling marriage, and the infantilization of one modern man.
This next one is my homage to Steel Magnolias, a cinema classic. Wait. It’s still “processing.” Will post later. Ah! It’s ready. This one might be too high-concept for you. But don’t blame yourself. Blame the limitations imposed upon you by some combination of circumstance, lack of parental nurturing, and a genetic inheritance that has left you without the ability to truly feel or think.
Reihan, I have a hard time appreciating your creative genius when the audio isn’t synced to the video. The effect is somewhat unsettling.

Incidentally, while classic cinema is being discussed (and, sadly, I get no YouTube embeds at work) — TAS has justly skewered Dana Stevenns more than once for her failures as a movie reviewer. But, damn, somebody over there owes her an apology and due props for coming up with “Depictions of early humans have the potential to ask the big questions: Where does language come from? What should our relationship be to nature, to technology, to other humans? A good caveman movie also tackles more immediate concerns: What me do when fire go out? How me escape from stampeding woolly mammoth?”

Clumsy, I was just about to post the same issue. You’re not alone. Any idea how to fix?

Rover, I have no idea how to fix it. It only happens with Reihan’s videos, whether he posts them here or on The Daily Dish or just on YouTube, so I think it’s something he is doing. But I really have no idea how to go about fixing it.

Can the word ‘magnolia’ refer to just the flower? I think of it as a tree, which is already difficult to pick and present to one’s grandmother.
