This Will Be Our Year: Best Song Ever?
Frank Portman (of King Dork and The Mr. T Experience fame) is one of my heroes, and he also has really good taste in Zombies songs.
This is an excellent song for weddings and other potentially weepy occasions.
“Care of Cell 44” will always be the best song to celebrate the release of your girlfriend from prison, though. Click my name for the link.

I think it is a good transitional occasion celebration song, but the song chosen to signify my high school graduation, We’ve Only Just Begun, by the Carpenters is both wimpier and more muscular (my hobby horse lately). The open, unadorned poigniency of Karen Carpenter’s voice gives that song a power that the other song lacks. The lyrics say, we’ve only just begun, but Karen’s tone says, we’re all doomed. Both are true, and both are important sentiments to consider at a life transition. Having been shaped by this kind of great art is why my generation is superior to all others and will soon rule the world.
