Let me just say that I completely thrilled that Gridskipper’s DC posts are completely — and correctly — biased toward toward geeky hipsterism. For example, take their list of the best dance parties in town. Let’s see… DC9, 9:30 Club, Saint-Ex, Black Cat, Rock And Roll Hotel — sensing a pattern? If anything, their coverage is slightly too snobby; I, for example, am not at all opposed to Brickskellar, although it’s been far less welcoming since the DC smoking ban kicked in. And look! They have a guide to bars where you can watch “political football” — debates and election returns and such. In other words, the correspondents treat DC like the weird, wonky city it is, not as simply another generic big city to cover like every other big city.
