Productivity is For Old People
If you own an iPhone and are looking for an addictive experience likely to waste several hours, if not days, of your life, look no further: Fieldrunners is the most clever, addictive game I’ve played in weeks. Indeed, it’s probably a more gripping overall experience than this week’s big video game release, Halo: ODST, which, while gorgeously produced, so far strikes me as amusing but rather empty.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and guess that you’ve never played any of the other 19 jillion tower defense games out there free on the Internet. It’s so 2007.
I never saw their appeal in the first place. But obviously, given their proliferation, I’m in the minority. I wonder what Chris Batemen thinks about them?

Ethan:
I’ve actually been playing various TD games since, well… about 2007. And Fieldrunners is one of the smoothest and most polished I’ve seen, and a nearly perfect iPhone timewaster.

I take back my snark. :) I guess I’m just not the guy to talk to about TD. You should definitely check out that blog I linked, though. Interesting stuff about game design — and also various topics of philosophy.

I really liked Field Runners. I commandeered my wife’s iPhone for a couple of weeks with it.
